The curriculum is the heart of The Study's dynamic learning environment and, like the students it serves, it is always evolving.
The primary goal of the curriculum is to make learning relevant and prepare students for university and today's workplace, where one must perform various tasks, understand how problems are interconnected and examine an issue from different perspectives.
The Study's curriculum is founded on the Québec Education Plan (QEP), which is based on extensive research on the learning process and is considered to be at the forefront of educational best practices. The QEP curriculum allows teachers to collaborate with colleagues to create multi-disciplinary projects, where students learn to see the inter-connection of various subjects and are encouraged to be creative thinkers and problem solvers.
Studies have shown that when subjects are taught in isolation, learning is fragmented and a student's ability to effectively apply what has been learned is diminished. By learning to link concepts and apply knowledge to real-life issues, students' retention rate and ability to synthesize ideas are strengthened and their understanding is enhanced.
