Fit for Life

The Study’s Athletics Department strives to provide all students with opportunities to increase their level of competency in a variety of team and individual sports in a competitive setting.  The Athletics program emphasizes the development of both the mind and body of athletes, along with fitness, participation and fun!

Athletics teachers and coaches are responsible, through their example and commitment, for developing athletes who are disciplined, responsible towards themselves and others and dedicated to excellence.  They aim to teach students that while skill level and game knowledge are important, so are attitude, effort, concentration, commitment and a willingness to lean. The Study’s athletes develop a sense of pride in winning, as well as a sense of fair play, good sportsmanship and compassion, which in turn enhances dedication and school pride.

Interscholastic Athletics for Elementary School (Cycle 3)

Students in Cycle 3 (Years 1 & 2) are given an opportunity to increase their level of competency in a variety of team and individual sports in a competitive setting. There is a “no cut” policy; so any student who wishes to play on a team is guaranteed a spot, as long as an attendance requirement is met. The five sports played are:

  •   Soccer, September-October
  •   Mini-volleyball, October-November

      Hockey, October-March (with Senior School)

      Basketball, January-March

      Badminton, April-May

Interscholastic Athletics in the Senior School

The Study seeks to provide all Senior School students with opportunities to increase their level of competency in a variety of team and individual sports in a competitive setting.  About 80 percent of Senior School students participate in at least one interscholastic sport. The Study is an active member of the GMAA (Greater Montreal Athletics Association), MIS (Montreal Independent Schools), QAIS (Quebec Association of Independent Schools) and CAIS (Canadian Association of independent Schools) leagues and has teams at three age levels in most tournaments.
