Timetables & Routines

Kindergaten and Elementary Cycle 1 & 2 Routines

Arrival and Dismissal

Children should arrive by 8:00 a.m. to give them time to be ready for Homeroom at 8:10 a.m.  Children who must leave during a school day must sign out at the Elementary School Office.  Children are dismissed from class at the end of the school day and gather under the supervision of an Elementary School Assistant on the lower lawn on the Boulevard.  If they are not picked up by 3:35 p.m. they will be asked to attend the After-School Program.  Parents will be charged a fee by the After-School Program.

Late Arrivals

The student entrances are locked at 8:05 a.m. for the remainder of the day.   Students must check in with the Elementary School Assistant if they arrive at school after attendance has been taken. The school must have a written request before any child can be excused from school for a doctor or dentist appointment during school hours.

Attendance

Attendance each day is compulsory.  Students should only stay home if they are sick.  Please schedule appointments outside of school hours.

Absences

When a student is absent because of illness, the school must be notified by telephone before 10:00 a.m. on the day of the absence, and on return, the student must bring a note addressed to the Homeroom Teacher.  If an absence for any other reason is necessary, the Elementary School Director should be consulted and advised in writing beforehand.  It must be stressed that an absence from class should be avoided whenever possible. An excuse makes an absence acceptable, but cannot possibly make up for loss of time and continuity in the subjects missed. To this end, please do not book holidays during school times.  Should you do so, it is the responsibility of the student to make up the work missed and it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure the work is done.  Teachers will not reteach her/his lesson after a student absence for a personal holiday.

Detentions

Students may have to stay for detention during their free time or after class because of incomplete assignments or for having disregarded school regulations.
