Learning, Living and Leading

Welcome to The Study Senior School! The Senior School is a vibrant, supportive educational environment in which the students are challenged academically and where they have the opportunity to participate in a variety of co-curricular activities. In the Senior School, students take courses required by "le Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport". These required classes are enriched, and we also offer a wide variety of complementary courses such as: Mandarin, Law, Advanced Chemistry and Advanced Biology. In each grade, students have classes in French, such as Geography, History and Ethics. Bilingualism is also present at our assemblies and in our everyday lives at the school.

As well, the students are given the opportunity to select activities from a wide range of choices, including Debating, Choir, Environmental Club, Concert Band and excursions to the Opera. All students in the Senior School are involved in the community service program. This is an excellent opportunity for the girls to learn that, as citizens, we have a great deal to share with and offer to our community. Although the greatest amount of community service is performed locally, we do have a very active chapter of Free the Children at The Study. We are very proud of the students who, through their efforts, helped to open a school in Guatemala. Finally, we are now in our fourth year of student exchanges with The Ruyton School in Australia. Students in grade 9 apply to participate in this wonderful exchange experience in their grade 10 year.

Leadership plays a big role in the Senior School. Besides having prefects who make up the Student Council, students can also take on leadership roles in planning and executing various activities throughout the year, such as the Girls for the Cure Walk, the annual bazaar, the talent show, and various other activities that include students from both the Elementary and Senior Schools. Students participate in the Canadian Association of Independent Schools' (now called SEAL, Standards of Excellence and Learning) Student Leadership Conference. Taking on leadership roles helps the students gain the experience they need as a foundation for the vital role they will play as women and future leaders in society.

The Study is proud of all students and teachers for their many accomplishments. As you browse this section of the web site, I hope that you enjoy getting to know the Senior School and becoming familiar with all that we do.
