We are proud to announce the launch of Rosie, our very own custom-built Large Language Model.Developed in-house by The Study's Technology Department, Rosie brings cutting-edge AI-driven educational support to students from Kindergarten to Grade 11, all while prioritizing safety and data privacy. As one of the first Canadian K-11 schools to have its own private AI, The Study is taking a major leap forward.
Rosie’s Unique Benefits
What sets Rosie apart from other AI models is that it’s designed specifically for educational purposes and is tailored to the Quebec curriculum. Rosie makes complex ideas easy to grasp, offering step-by-step explanations that help students build a deeper understanding across all subjects. Rosie’s transparent reasoning aligns with educational standards, giving our students reliable guidance. For teachers, Rosie is a flexible tool that can be customized for their specific classroom needs and learning objectives.
Security is at the very heart of Rosie’s design. All of the data resides on our servers, within The Study's firewall, ensuring complete control and protection of our students' information. Since we're not sharing or selling data, nor training external models, our students' and staff's personal and sensitive information is safeguarded.
A Legacy of Innovation
Rosie is the latest in The Study’s long tradition of innovation, building on the school's legacy as the first in Quebec to introduce a 1:1 laptop program in 1999, one of the first to have a Makerspace, and a pioneer in teaching coding from Kindergarten to Grade 11. By incorporating AI into the classroom, The Study equips its students with the tools they need to excel in an increasingly digital world.
"Rosie isn’t just a tool for teaching AI—it’s a tool to teach AI wisely," said Amalia Liogas, Director of IT at The Study. "We’ve created Rosie to ensure that our students can explore generative AI with confidence, understanding, and safety."
Rosie is a major step forward in how The Study prepares students for a future where AI and technology play a central role in education and beyond. Through Rosie, students will gain firsthand experience with the technologies that will shape tomorrow’s world.
