CHAMPAGNE & OYSTERS

Virtual Tasting

back by popular demand!

Friday, December 3 at 8pm

This holiday season, join us as we explore a variety of different types of oysters along with the intricacies of Champagne, 'Pét-Nat' and a Canadian organic white wine.

The evening promises to bring together our Study community, as we enjoy privately imported Champagnes, sparkling white wine (Pét-Nat), and a 'vin tranquille', curated and supplied by John Bambara, trained wine maker and owner of Bambara Selection.

John will guide us through the unique sparkling wine making methods, helping us to demystify the world of 'bubbles'.

Special guest David McMillan, Joe Beef will introduce us to his 'vin tranquille', a Canadian organic white wine, from his vineyard - and one of his newest ventures - Hinterland Wine Company.

To pair with these exclusive wines will be a selection of Canadian oysters. Guests will have a variety of different types of oysters to enjoy together with the group, while being given an 'Oyster Tasting 101' as we appreciate their unique character and distinct flavour. A link to a pre-recorded shucking tutorial will be provided to guests prior to the event so that your oysters are shucked and ready to be enjoyed!

FAqs & party ideas for our virtual fundraiser

I'm interested in tasting all 4 wines, but I don't want to open them all at once - what should I do?

Consider inviting some friends to join you - they'll appreciate  the invitation, and you won't need to hold back on opening any of the bottles!

I think this is a great fundraiser - what are you fundraising for?

The proceeds of the event will go to support The Study's Active Outdoor Learning Spaces. Naming opportunities are available. Please contact Katie Kostiuk '96 if you are interested learning more.

I don't like oysters - can I simply purchase the wine?

Of course - we have a tasting package that includes only the wine.

I love oysters, but don't drink - can I still participate?

Yes - we hope you will still join us as there will be moments throughout the evening that speak about the different oysters you will be tasting.

What is a 'vin tranquille'?

A 'vin tranquille' is a white wine that does not have bubbles in it.
