On their way to the Canada-Wide Science Fair Final
At the Super Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec, provincial final, Annika and Tessa, both grade 10, were selected to be part of the Quebec delegation attending the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) on May 11 - 18. Their project 'Aortic Dissection Detection' impressed the judges. The goal of their project was to use a CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) to detect aortic dissections - tear in one of the three main layers of the aorta, the largest artery in the body- on a CT scan. This is important to them, given that the quicker the diagnosis, the higher the chance of the patient’s survival. They are among the 36 young Quebec minds chosen to participate in the Canada-wide final in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Best of luck girls!
